How much does a decent wig cost?

Wigs can vary when it comes to Cost.

The cost of a wig can vary from a price range of $150 to $3000.  However, it’s up to you and the features and benefits you feel are important in your lifestyle.

The cost of wigs is typically determined by two factors:

  1. Hair Fiber (synthetic or human hair)
  2. Cap-construction

Human hair is an investment with higher cost than a synthetic wig.  With European human hair being the most expensive. Hair length can contribute to a higher cost as well.  Luckily with proper care, human hair wigs tend to last longer and can be styled like your own bio hair.  Based on top wig manufactures that I have some human hair wigs from, I’ve seen a decent human hair wig cost anywhere from $900 to $1500

Synthetic wigs are ready to wear, come in a wide range of colors and have been created to mimic real hair.  There’s even heat friendly synthetic that allows you to change your style.   A decent synthetic wig can cost anywhere from $200 to $400.

Cap-construction describes how the cap is made and applies to both human hair and synthetic.  A 100% hand tied cap means the hair has been individually tied onto a lace type base and is the most natural looking. Other quality features to look for would be monofilament top, monofilament part and lace front. These features will give you the illusion of natural hair growth compared to a basic machine wefted cap. See examples below:

The good news . . . Wigs have come a long way over the years.  And whether you choose human hair or synthetic hair there are good wigs for any budget. So you know now how much a decent wig cost!
