Having to go through chemotherapy treatments can be very hard, both physically and emotionally. One moment your going through life and then abruptly everything changes.
For many of us, our hair is apart of our identity. It can feel like a rollercoaster ride of emotions and you just want to feel like yourself or may not want others to know about the cancer diagnosis. Just remember that chemo hair-loss is temporary and after treatment your hair will grow back.
Now, that's not to say it doesn't suck but there are a few options to consider regarding hair-loss and what you can do while going through chemotherapy infusions. One is referred to as Cold Cap treatment, which can reduce hair-loss, Wigs, Halo type Hair pieces and Headwear which can help you feel and look more like yourself. It's not uncommon to use a combination of these option. The main thing is you do what works best for you so that you are as comfortable as possible.
Option 1 - Cold Cap
Cold Caps are used to help prevent or at least reduce the amount of hair loss during chemo-treatments.
The Cold caps are a scalp cooling treatment. The process involves a helmet-like hat which is filled with a cold gel or liquid and placed on your head while your getting your chemotherapy infusion. This extreme cold is meant to constrict the blood vessels and block the cell-killing chemo from the hair follicles reducing hair-loss. Check with your Doctor for more information.
Option 2 - Wig Consultation & Fitting
I'm sure loosing your hair was not something you had planned for and it's important to get the professional guidance about different products and what would work best for you and your life style. It is always nice to have options and Wigs by Dana is the perfect place. They come in many different styles and fabrics so you can find one that matches your personal style - whether it's elegant or casual! Take a look at some styles below.
